![]() ![]() If you think your son is too light a sleeper for that, maybe start getting him used to a little more noise during naps (vacuum, tv, etc.) ahead of time at home? We can watch TV and talk without disturbing him, or duck out on the patio for drinks. They can really do a lot of napping in a comfy stroller while you're out and about, you just need to get out first! My son has always been a good sleeper, so even at 2 1/2 just a crib in the corner of our hotel room has been fine. I would bring a comfy, fully reclineable stroller, with a sunshade, so that baby can just nap poolside while you swim, etc. So it was hard to get out of the room when we actually wanted. I found that by the time I got ready to go somewhere, it ended up being a feeding time, and then naps follow feedings, then start the 3 hour cycle over. The good thing is at that age, you don't need the really big toys and stuff to keep them occupied! So here's the thing, I wouldn't particularly want to take a long trip to Hawaii with an infant that young, especially if it was to be a "once in a lifetime trip" or something, but I wouldn't let it stop me from going! You don't need to bring a travel bed, just ask the hotel for a pack n play or crib in the room, and maybe bring some of your bedding from home to make it more comfy. I haven't stayed at the Hale Koa, but have travelled to Florida with my son as a 4 month old, and also to Oahu with him as a 2 and the 2 1/2 y.o.
